Community Involvement

We believe in giving back to the communities we serve and call home, and we partner with many local nonprofits.

We’ve supported local pet nonprofits from day one.

We’ve donated over $1M in free medical services to 13 Central Texas animal nonprofits.

Our partners promote animal compassion and prevent homelessness. They train support dogs for children, seniors, and veterans. They offer low-cost healthcare. Overall, they love and protect dogs and cats as much as we do.

The free medical care we offer helps them prepares their pets for adoption and a good life with forever families.

As we grow, our giving will grow as well!

We also give back in two other ways:

  1. K-12 education and “vet for a day” hospital visits ignite STEM passion.
  2. Supporting your events! We love to meet the people and pets of Central Texas at neighborhood fundraisers.

Our Work

We’ve donated $1M in free medical care and donations to support the pets of Central Texas.

Our giving back program offers 365 days of philanthropy. Pets need care all year round. And your events run from January to December!

We feel immense joy and gratitude when cats and dogs are adopted into their forever home.

We love meeting the people and pets of Central Texas. Come visit us at neighborhood events like July 4th parades, chili cook-offs, and fun runs.

Firehouse supported the Austin American-Statesman’s Season For Caring campaign for the 4th year in 2020. We donated $10,000 in free medical care for pets whose owners were part of the fundraiser. Here’s how we helped:
6-month Skylo had emergency surgery to look for a toy he had ingested

Pulling for Pets

Firehouse supported Emancipet in 2021’s Pulling for Pets. Pet lovers competed to see who could pull Emancipet’s 26,000 lb mobile clinic over 20 feet in the fastest time.

Girl Scout Visit

Dr Mike Lawton toured his daughter’s Girl Scout troop through Firehouse Westlake. We love encouraging young minds to explore the world of science and medicine! Call us if you’d like to give your child’s school or scout group a similar opportunity.

Civic Events

Our teams have voted to support 3 large civic events: The Buda Lions Club Wiener Dog Races, Austin PRIDE, and APA!’s “Paddle for Puppies.”

Dr. Opyt at Kyle shares more about our nonprofit partnerships with CBS “We Are Austin” host in this video.

The Austin PRIDE Festival celebrates Austin’s diversity. Firehouse hosts an “ask the vet” booth and serves as a hydration station for thirsty pups.

The annual Lions Club Buda Wiener Dog Races raise money for student scholarships each April. The Firehouse team serves as race judges, contestant authority, and event veterinarian.

The annual “Paddle for Puppies” event on Lady Bird Lake benefits the Parvo Program at Austin Pets Alive! Firehouse serves as event lifeguards and hosts an “ask the vet” booth.
